There is a special guest joining us at the eventing and driving Test Events and the 2022 FEI World Championships™ (September 15-25). His name is “Pratoniberry” and he is a close friend of Willberry who, together with his owner, Hannah Francis, created Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony Charity in the UK. Hannah was an inspirational young event rider who was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma in 2015. Hannah was determined to help others suffering from this dreadful disease and established her charity to fund scientific research (Willberry’s Research) and grant equine-related experiences to seriously ill people and their families (Willberry’s Wishes).
Hannah tragically lost her life in August 2016 at just 18 years old, but her legacy lives on through the work of her charity, thanks to thousands of supporters across the world. The charity is currently funding six research projects (with more to come) and continues to provide Willberry’s Wishes to people at their greatest time of need.
Willberry would like to send sincere thanks to the team at Pratoni for their support and is delighted his good friend, Pratoniberry, will be present in Italy to spread the word in the fight against osteosarcoma. Pratoniberry will appear in a special version personalised for these Italian events, embellished with a purple wool scarf and a limited-edition pin, and is on sale at 30€ at the Pratoni del Vivaro, the venue for the two Test Events currently being held and the FEI World Championships™. We will soon be announcing online sales and all funds raised will continue the vital work started by Hannah.
